SUGARING AND WAXING HAIR REMOVAL FAQ
- What’s the difference between sugaring and waxing?- Both remove hair from the root, but sugaring uses a natural paste of sugar, lemon, and water, and is applied against hair growth and removed with it. Waxing uses resin-based wax that is applied with the direction of hair growth and removed against it. Sugaring is often gentler on the skin and preferred for sensitive areas.
- Does it hurt?- Both methods involve some discomfort since hair is pulled from the root, but sugaring tends to be less painful for many clients, especially over time as hair grows back finer.
- How long does my hair need to be?- Hair should be about 1/4 inch long (about the size of a grain of rice) for best results. This is typically 2–3 weeks of growth after shaving.
- How long do results last?- You’ll stay smooth for 3 to 6 weeks, depending on your hair growth cycle. With regular treatments, hair often grows back finer and more slowly.
- Can I get sugaring or waxing during my period?- Yes, but you may be more sensitive. We suggest wearing a fresh tampon or menstrual cup if you’re having a bikini or Brazilian service.
- Is sugaring or waxing safe for sensitive skin?- Yes. Sugaring is especially great for sensitive skin because it’s all-natural and less likely to stick to live skin cells. We also use gentle post-care products to soothe the skin after either treatment.
- What should I do to prepare for my appointment?- Exfoliate the day before, avoid lotion or oils on the area, and make sure your hair is long enough. If you’re nervous about discomfort, you can take a mild pain reliever 30 minutes before your appointment.
- What should I avoid after my hair removal treatment?- Avoid hot baths, saunas, tight clothing, exercise, and sun exposure for at least 24 hours. Keep the area clean and apply recommended aftercare to prevent irritation or ingrown hairs.
- Can I shave between appointments?- It’s best not to. Shaving disrupts the hair growth cycle and can make your next sugaring or waxing appointment less effective. Sticking to a regular schedule gives better long-term results.
- How often should I get sugared or waxed?- Most clients book every 4 to 6 weeks, depending on hair growth. Staying consistent helps reduce discomfort and leads to longer-lasting smoothness.
